What exactly is a domain broker?
A domain broker is a person that buys and sells domains for others. That is the most simple definition of what a domain broker does. There is a blog post here on Flippa that covers domain brokers a bit more in-depth with some examples.
In a lot of cases companies will seek out specific domains for branding purposes, for the right domain name some might pay up words of $100,000 or more.
Benefits of Expired Domains for SEO Purposes
In the world of SEO today many people are using the power of relevant, aged and authority domains to rank their money sites. You can read all about expired domains in Jon’s post here.
There are a couple ways you can look at domain brokering, in one case it’s someone selling domains on behalf of someone else for a sale (like in the Flippa blog post example) or simply selling domains for SEO purposes, most likely for building a PBN.
Why hire a domain broker?
From an SEO perspective:
As you can see, if you took a few minutes to read through Jon’s post you will see there is a lot that goes on when it comes to finding a domain. The first time I read that post I was motivated to go out there and try to find a domain on my own but quickly realized how time consuming it was.
Even after putting a lot of time into finding a domain, I still was not 100% confident in my purchase since I really had never done this before.

Is this a good price for a domain like this?
There are tools out there such as PBN Lab that will make the job simple, but by no means are they cheap.
If you are simply looking to rank your money site, you might be able to use a tool like this for a week then find your own domains.
Overall the easiest overall option would be to find an actual domain broker to do all the grunt work for you.
From a sales and acquisition perspective:
Domain brokers are also used for acquiring specific domains, working out deals and making sales for domains. In many cases hiring a company that offers these types of services will make finding and acquiring a domain you are interested in a lot easier. They will handle the leg work and you simply pay them a fee based on the work they put into helping you find your domain.
Using Expired Domains for Private Blog Networks
If you have done your research into PBN’s you will realize the potential of receiving links from high powered domains. To manually acquire a link from a high powered site can take a significant amount of work. You could literally spend hours finding relevant sites, doing emailing outreach and just possibly getting another blog or website owner to actually link back to your site.
To simply “bypass” this type of work you can either purchase PBN links from someone else’s existing network of sites or build your own personal PBN of sites.
The benefits of buying links from an existing PBN is that generally the metrics will be really high providing huge link power, but one downfall will be site relevency. If a PBN is setup in such a way that articles can be written to match the niche of the domain this really shouldn’t be a huge deal.
Overall if you decide to have a PBN built for yourself you could seek out domains that are relevant to your “money site” niche and really reduce the risk of any penalties. You will also have full control of the sites and the content being placed on them.
Depending on your goals either of these options will be a good choice for those looking to rank their money sites.
